Inga Tritt founded The Original Little Sprout® in 2003, & D'Organiques Original Sprout in 2007. The name Little Sprout was inspired by her daughter Maya. When German born Inga was two years old she moved to Santa Barbara, California. As a child she was introduced to her first lipstick by her great-grandmother, which started a life-long love affair with cosmetics. She grew up in a rural area of Santa Barbara called Montecito, with her parents and grandfather, inventor William Tritt. Her love of nature, art and architecture culminated to her pursuing sculpture in college. It was there that she decided sculpting hair might be a rewarding career, so she enrolled in Santa Barbara Beauty College. Her passion for hair and skin care led to a successful career of owning salons, spas and becoming a master stylist. At 33, she retired, moved to San Luis Obispo and sold her businesses to be a full time mom. She then had her baby Maya.
Inga was delighted when her newborn daughter was born with a full head of hair. Her hair stuck straight up so Inga began searching for natural styling products for babies but none existed. She wanted a baby shampoo that was moisturizing since the natural & organic products she tried left Maya's hair dry, prone to tangles, frizzy and with cradle cap. Realizing the benefit of being a mother with real life experience, and a master stylist with professional experience, she decided to create the first of it's kind.... the Ultra Clean & Light Baby Hair Gel. The next product was the Moisturizing Baby Shampoo followed by the Baby Hair Styling Balm. Today there are over 13 products and more are on the way.
Parents trust how D'Organiques products perform without questionable ingredients. Since cancer, autism and hormone imbalances are real concerns today, proper selection of cosmetic ingredients are vital. Inga selects ingredients that do not have concerns around them whether they are natural or synthetic. Inga won't use ingredients such as tea tree, lavender, clove and citrus oils, or added artificial colors to eliminate any questions. In addition no fruit or fruit fragrances are used in D'Organique products, as that they can attract yellow jackets, bees, and mosquitoes.
Fragrances and perfumes may contain benzenes and phthalates which are potential carcinogens. Inga's specialized fragrances have no added benzenes or phthalates so smelling good is worry-free. Her formulas are made in the USA and tested in the UK for the highest level of quality control. All of D'Organiques products are lead free which is also reassuring in today's cosmetic marketplace. Parent's trust D'Organiques full disclosure policy and compliance with the European Union Initiative.
Many women are proactive in cancer prevention by actively looking for safe cosmetics. Inga was personally motivated to make her products free of hormone disrupters because she lost a friend to cancer at a young age. That is why she does not use questionable ingredients such as parabens, sulfates, dioxanes, phthalates and formaldehyde. Since most cosmetic manufacturers are motivated by profit they can not create the same quality products, and often greewash labels, leading consumers to believe their products are safe. Inga believes safe cosmetics are a result of selecting ingredients without any concerns around them, whether they be natural or not.
Original Sprout is adamantly against animal testing and is proud to support Peta in the ethical treatment of animals. The majority of the products are vegan and lanolin, used in the Baby hair Balm, is from wool so the sheep are not harmed.
D'Organiques cares about the environment. Inga's knowledge of environmental issues are from her father, who has worked as a alternative energy expert for over thirty years. Because of this the company cars are run on biodiesel and recycling is standard. Recycled shipping boxes are commonly used and skylights are in the fulfillment center for reduced energy consumption. Recyclable number two plastic is standard in product production, for added consumer and environmental protection. The D'Organiques will continue to strive to implement the latest technology in alternative energy, which directly contributes to cleaner air, water and a better future for our children.
